Our 50-Year Journey of Success.

Then

Now

From $429 to a 50-Year plus Northern California institution.

In 1973, Erik (yes there really is an Erik!) borrowed $429 from his father, Ray, to open his first location in Scotts Valley, CA (September 17, 1973). A family business from the start (which it remains today), his father created homemade soups (many of his recipes are still used today), his mother made the deli salads and baked goods, and his brother handled the leases.

Over 50+ years later, those same recipes and commitment to family remains, supporting 28 thriving locations throughout Santa Cruz County, the Bay Area, the Monterey Peninsula and Sacramento County.

Frequently Asked Questions

What experience do I need to own an Erik's DeliCafé franchise?

While restaurant experience is helpful, it’s not required. We’re looking for motivated individuals with strong business acumen, leadership skills, and a passion for customer service, great food and a strong community.

Typically, it takes 6-9 months from signing the franchise agreement to opening day. This timeline includes site selection, lease negotiation, build-out, training, and preparation for your grand opening. Our team works closely with you throughout this process to ensure everything runs smoothly.

We provide comprehensive ongoing support, including regular visits from field operations consultants, continuing education opportunities, marketing assistance, operational updates, and access to our franchise support team. We also offer regular “Coffee with Character” meetings, Franchise Advisory Council, and semi-annual Franchisee Roundtable meetings. As a fully family-owned business, we pride ourselves on our ability to respond swiftly and effectively to all your needs. From our exclusive menu offerings—such as Erik’s Secret Goo, our renowned sandwich spread, and our family-recipe soups (six varieties served daily)—to our premium selection of meats, cheeses, and fresh produce, our menu consistently delivers exceptional quality, flavor, and freshness.
